MUSIC HISTORY COFFEE ART COMMENTS BOOKING

Thank you for your interest in “The Alley Upstairs” room above the Café Allegro. All of the music is scheduled and hosted by Music Community Resources (MCR), a local non-profit organization of musicians. We are looking for original music that has a general appeal to the average University District coffeehouse audience. The shows normally run from 7:00 - 9:30 PM with a 10 minute break in the middle. Mostly we book two or three acts each night. We collect donations and the money is divided between the bands. You can also sell your CDs at your concert. We provide and run our own 6 Channel PA system at no cost to you. You can bring your own sound system if necessary for your show, but large amplifiers for electric guitars and large speakers are discouraged because of space constraints, and also we want to keep the volume at “coffeehouse levels”.

Please realize that The Alley Upstairs is a coffeehouse sitting room and not a concert hall. The room is small and holds a maximum of 30 people including the band itself. There is no stage; you simply play at the far end of the room.

MCR handles all of the publicity each week for “The Alley Upstairs” events by creating, printing, and hanging posters, handing out “reminder cards” at the counter, sending announcements to the local papers, plus E-mailing announcements to our coffeehouse Mailing List a few days prior to each event.
